Lovely Creatures

I understand that it's a total contradiction when a fashion design student says that they don't like getting inspirations from magazines or street fashions. Frankly, I see you every where; ie the street. I'd rather take some fashion cues from lovely mythical creatures (evidently portrayed by real humans BUT STILL) that, my apologies to all the believers, don't exist.

I've always been particularly drawn to these enigmatic creatures especially the ones in great Old Hollywood films. These half-fish half-woman were the most glamorous things to come out of the big blue. Beautiful long curls paired with uber short bangs and hair accessories encrusted with pearls and shells only the ocean can spew out. I'm not talking your run of the mill Disney mermaids. I'm talking Ann Blyth in "Mr. Peabody and The Mermaid" and Glynis Johns in "Miranda" and "Mad About Men." Now let's talk style in a face and fin, we can all take some cues from these ladies.

And FYI just because you live hundreds of feet down in the ocean doesn't mean you can't look bangin' for those stranded sailor boys.
